Our Story

Discover how our family’s Sicilian tradition grew into the olive oils, balsamics, and regional specialties we proudly share today.

  • The Beginning

Our story began in San Nicola l’Arena, near Palermo. The Turturici family established Frantoio Oleario Turturici and began producing olive oil with a deep respect for the land, the harvest, and the traditions of Sicily. What started as a small family mill soon became the foundation of a lasting legacy—built on craftsmanship, hard work, and a commitment to creating authentic olive oil for generations to come.

  • A New Home in Trabia

As the family business continued to grow, Frantoio Oleario Turturici established its home in Trabia, Sicily, where the farm and mill became the heart of the family’s olive oil tradition. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Sicilian coast, the family continued producing authentic olive oil for local families, businesses, and communities, preserving time-honored methods while passing their knowledge and craftsmanship from one generation to the next.

  • Expansion

As word of the family’s olive oil spread beyond Trabia, Frantoio Oleario Turturici became a favorite in homes, restaurants, and kitchens throughout Sicily. Families loved its authentic flavor, while chefs and restaurateurs trusted its quality to bring the true taste of Sicily to their dishes.

Its reputation soon reached beyond the island, earning a loyal following across Europe among customers who valued traditional production, genuine ingredients, and the care placed into every bottle.

  • Modern Machinery, Timeless Sicilian Tradition

Modern machinery opened new possibilities, allowing us to expand throughout Europe while continuing to produce monocultivar, first cold-pressed, unfiltered, and all-natural olive oils with the traditional methods and uncompromising quality our family has upheld for generations.

  • Across the Atlantic: Sicily to New York

In 2012, our family brought its Sicilian heritage across the Atlantic and established Turturici & Sons in the United States, becoming the exclusive home of our family’s products in the American market. Long Island, New York, became our U.S. headquarters and the center of our growing operations, allowing us to share our family’s authentic flavors, craftsmanship, and traditions with customers across the country.

  • The Principe di Trabia is born

Made exclusively from our family’s monocultivar Oglialora olives, Principe di Trabia was first introduced at farmers markets and gourmet specialty markets, where its distinctive flavor quickly made it a customer favorite. Always all-natural, first cold-pressed, unfiltered, and produced from a single olive variety, it preserves the character of our coastal Sicilian groves while remaining naturally rich in polyphenols and antioxidants.

Over the years, its bottle shape and label design have evolved to reflect the growth of our brand, but the exceptional oil inside has never changed. Fresh, vibrant, and unmistakably Sicilian, Principe di Trabia remains one of the most beloved oils in our collection.

  • Inspired by Our Customers, Rooted in Sicily

As our family business grew, we listened closely to the needs and tastes of our customers, allowing their enthusiasm to help shape our expanding collection. We first introduced naturally infused olive oils, crafted with our celebrated Monocultivar Oglialora—the Principe di Trabia—as their base. Beginning with such an exceptional single-variety olive oil is the key to their distinctive quality, freshness, and authentic Sicilian flavor.

We then added traditionally aged Sicilian balsamics and regional specialties from trusted local artisans. Our journey continued with new groves dedicated to cultivating the bold and robust Monocultivar Nocellara del Belice.

  • 78 Years & Counting

Today, in 2026, our family’s traditions continue across two homes. Turturici & Sons, headquartered on Long Island, New York, is our U.S.-based company, sharing our family’s authentic Sicilian olive oils, naturally infused oils, aged Sicilian balsamics, and regional specialties with customers throughout the United States and the Caribbean.

Our products can now be found in specialty and gourmet stores, at farmers markets and festivals, through our social media community, and in our online shop. Although our reach has grown, every product remains connected to the same family heritage, craftsmanship, and respect for the land that have guided us since 1948.

In Sicily, Oleificio Turturici remains our working family farm, olive mill, and storefront in Trabia. Visitors traveling to Sicily are always welcome to experience where our story continues—to see the mill, visit the farm, discover our products, and share in the traditions that have been passed down through generations.

From Trabia to Long Island, our family business may now have two homes, but the heart behind every bottle remains the same: family, authenticity, tradition, and a love for bringing the true flavors of Sicily to tables near and far.
